Sysmex Astrego’s technology for Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing (AST) is based on microfluidics and image analysis methods developed for pioneering microbial research in the Elf Lab at Uppsala University, as described in Baltekin et al, PNAS 2017 (Antibiotic susceptibility testing in less than 30 min using direct single-cell imaging).

Sysmex Astrego’s technology offers fast, sensitive, and precise Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing (AST) in a completely automated fashion for use in near patient and central laboratory settings.

With unmatched speed at low cost, the technology enables personalized antibiotic prescription for conditions, such as Urinary and Respiratory Tract Infections, Tuberculosis, Skin Infections and Sterile Body Fluid Infections (i.e. Sepsis, Meningitis, Infectious Arthritis).
